Education, Credentials & Clinical Training

Dr. Tatyana Katz brings a level of academic and clinical depth that is genuinely rare in optometric practice. She earned her Ophthalmology degree from Tashkent Medical Institute in 1996, followed by two years of hospital-based practice as an Ophthalmologist diagnosing and treating eye conditions in a high-volume clinical setting. This physician-level foundation in ocular anatomy, disease, and surgical management gave Dr. Katz an unusually deep understanding of the eye as an organ and its relationship to systemic health — knowledge that continues to inform every patient evaluation at TK Optometry today.

After relocating to the United States, Dr. Katz earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston (2004–2006), one of the most prestigious optometry institutions in the country. She then continued her clinical training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, working in a hospital setting alongside ophthalmologists and specialists across complex cases.

From 2008 through 2022, Dr. Katz founded and operated Advanced Vision Center in Swampscott, Massachusetts, building a successful full-scope private practice over fourteen years. After relocating to New York in 2022, she practiced at Mega Vision in Brooklyn before founding TK Optometry in 2025 — bringing the medical depth, hands-on practice ownership experience, and patient-first care philosophy that has defined her career.

Brooklyn is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse communities in the world, and TK Optometry reflects that. Dr. Tatyana Katz speaks English and Russian fluently, making her practice an especially welcoming and accessible destination for the large and vibrant Russian-speaking communities across Brooklyn and Queens.
